The Manhattan Vintage Book & Ephemera Fair & Fine Press Book Fair

“The Shadow Show”—to be held on Saturday, April 9, at the Church of St. Vincent Ferrer, 869 Lexington Avenue at 66th Street (across from the Armory). Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m., with appraisals by John Bruno, star of the hit PBS series, Market Warriors, from 2-4 p.m. Admission: $15 for adults, $7 for youths aged 12-21, and free for those under 13 with paid adult. Highlights

Fair goers will surely appreciate this eye candy from First Place Books of Walkersville, Maryland: the 1932 limited edition of Beowulf, bound in black, blind-tooled goatskin and bearing eight lithographs by Rockwell Kent, as well as Kent’s “signature” thumbprint on the limitation page. From New York’s own book town, Hobart, Wm. H. Adams Antiquarian Books will bring the two-volume, second edition (1760) of Samuel Johnson’s A Dictionary of the English Language. Price: $1,200. whabooks.com

Two from Austin’s Antiquarian Books of Wilmington, Vermont, are sure to please Roosevelt admirers: a framed manuscript letter from TR to future Secretary of State Elihu Root dated March 27, 1899 ($2,500), and a first edition of Roosevelt’s State of the Union address delivered on December 7, 1903 in a presentation binding ($850). austinsbooks.com

Over in the Fine Press section, California’s Ninja Press will showcase The Intimate Stranger (2006), with poetry by Breyten Breytenbach and drawings by Carolee Campbell, printed letterpress on handmade paper. Price: $2,000. ninjapressbooks.com

Mixolydian Editions of northern California will exhibit Vestige (2015), a poem by Alan Loney illustrated with wood engravings by Richard Wagener. Price: $750. richardwagener.com
