The Art of Zero

Suzanne Moore’s Zero: Cypher of Infinity is an artist’s book that investigates the concepts and controversy around zero. With texts by Emily Dickinson, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Rainer Maria Rilke, Wassily Kandinsky, Isaac Newton, and more, artist and calligrapher Suzanne Moore presents questions that explore the complex history and eternal mystery of the void taken from science, philosophy, and symbology all interpreted through art and text. This signed and dated artist’s book, one of 45 from a total issue of 50, is on Arches Text Wove and BFK papers with occasional Japanese interleaves, and was bound by the artist in custom-dyed black Cave paper, tooled in gold and silver gilt, and housed in a felt-lined clamshell box. Accomplished in a variety of mediums: original painting and drawing, as well as silkscreen prints, with text in wood and metal types and polymer plate letterpress printing, embossing, gold foil, and 23-karat gold leaf. $3,500
